Hi! My name is Jacqueline Feldman, and I'm 17 years old. I am a senior attending the High School for Math, Science and Engineering. I am also the proud sister of Daniel Feldman who was diagnosed with Biphenotypic Leukemia, an extremely rare type of leukemia, at the age of four. After a long treatment, the healthcare workers at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) hospital helped bring my brother to health! I recognized how lucky my family was with such an amazing support system throughout Daniels treatment, and I am also so beyond thankful to the brilliant doctors and nurses that did such a good job treating my brother and helping him win the fight of his life!
Ever since my brother Daniel was diagnosed with biphenotypic leukemia at the age of four, I have devoted my energy to raising money for cancer research. Ever since my brother Daniel was diagnosed with biphenotypic leukemia at the age of four, I have devoted my energy to raising money for cancer research. Biphenotypic leukemia is a combination of both types of acute leukemias: acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Due to this, my brother's treatment at Sloan Kettering was experimental and hard, though, thankfully, a success! This was very stressful for Daniel and my whole family, but Daniel is now in remission and a healthy, happy, 13 year old!
I want other families to have access to cutting-edge treatments like those given Daniel at Sloan Kettering. To show my eternal gratitude, I have been raising money for pediatric cancer research to help other children with cancer work towards a cure and for better and more effective, and less toxic harsh treatments. All of my profits will go to MSK Hospital, specifically, the pediatric cancer research center. My mission is to simultaneously help raise money for cancer research and show my endless thanks and support to MSK for saving my little brother. I want to help bring Smiles To Survivors!
From online donations, bake sales, lemonade stands, charity runs, and more, I plan to make a positive impact on cancer research. I am so grateful for the heavily researched treatment that brought my brother to health, and I want to pay it forward help other families that are impacted by cancer seek freedom from this horrible disease.
